Apple recently changed the screenshot requirements for apps submitted to the App Store. Here’s a quick rundown of what you need to know and how to ensure your app listing stays up-to-date with minimal hassle.

Ne App Store Connect, with changed resolutions

Changed user interface with 6.9-inch screenshots

Goodbye 6.7-inch, Hello 6.9-inch!

With the launch of the iPhone 16, Apple has updated the required screenshot size (screenshot requirements) for iPhones to reflect the larger 6.9-inch display. This means you’ll need to replace any existing 6.7-inch screenshots with new ones optimized for the larger size. Thankfully, the process is simple!

You can update your store settings using the App Store Connect interface and upload your new screenshots.
The older versions of iPad resolutions have been eliminated as well.

As a fallback, the 6.5-inch displays remain. With the built-in “Media Manager,” other older resolutions can still be uploaded. Bottom line, 6.9-inch iPhone and 13-inch iPad screenshots (up to 10) are in place. They have to be provided with your next uploads. This will take time—as always while handling the stores.
If you want to eliminate this tedious store handling, read on.

Still supported 6.7

6.7-inch screenshots are not supported anymore

There is no need to Panic; the App Store Manager remains the same

While the App Store Connect interface might look slightly different, the underlying API for uploading screenshots remains unchanged. You can still use your preferred App Store Manager for screenshots and metadata batch/bulk uploads.

Here’s how to transition smoothly:

  1. Create Those 6.9-inch Screenshots: Design your stunning new screenshots optimized for the iPhone 16’s larger display.
  2. File Them Right: Place your new 6.9-inch screenshots in the existing “iphone-67” folder within your App Store Manager’s screenshot template. The system will automatically recognize them and upload them to the correct location.
  3. iPad Updates (But Not Really): Continue using the “ipad-3rd” folder for iPad screenshots. For now, no size changes are required.

The next App Store Manager update will reflect the recent changes.

Conclusion: Keep it Clean with the App Store Manager

Remember to utilize our existing App Store Manager screenshot template. This ensures your screenshots are formatted correctly. Also, remember to leave any unused languages or resolutions empty or delete those folders to keep your submission organized.
